James Paul Lake Motorcycle Accident: Fatal Curve Crash Claims Life of 53-Year-Old Barnesville Motorcyclist

James Paul Lake, 53, of Barnesville, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Blythe Township, Pennsylvania, according to authorities.

The crash happened at approximately 4:26 p.m. Wednesday along Mountain Road near the intersection of Tumbling Run Road in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

According to Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, Lake was operating a 2023 Triumph Tiger motorcycle while traveling along Mountain Road in the Tamaqua area when the crash occurred.

Investigators said Lake approached a curve where Mountain Road bends left near Tumbling Run Road. As he entered the curve, he lost control of the motorcycle.

The bike overturned and traveled across the roadway before coming to rest along the right shoulder.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after reports of a serious crash. Lake suffered significant injuries in the collision and was found to be wearing a helmet at the time, authorities said.

He was transported by Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill for emergency treatment.

Despite life-saving efforts by hospital personnel, Lake later died from his injuries. Officials have not released the exact time of death.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and investigators have not yet determined what caused Lake to lose control while navigating the curve. Authorities have not indicated whether speed, roadway conditions, mechanical failure, or medical factors played a role.

The crash remains under active investigation. Mountain Road was temporarily impacted Wednesday afternoon as officials documented the scene and collected evidence.

Lake was operating a Triumph Tiger, an adventure-style touring motorcycle designed for both highway and off-road use. No additional details regarding the condition of the motorcycle have been released.
