Heartbreak is being felt across Indian Head, Maryland, following a tragic hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of Harry Washington and left a child critically injured.

Authorities say the crash happened around 7:50 p.m. Sunday near Indian Head Highway and Jenkins Lane, when a vehicle collided with a motorcycle carrying Washington and a child. Both victims were rushed to area hospitals for emergency treatment.
Harry Washington was transported to MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where he later died from his injuries. The child was taken to Children’s National Hospital and remains in critical condition.
Witnesses reported that the occupants of the striking vehicle fled the scene after the crash. Investigators say one person later returned and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency crews, including the Maryland State Police Aviation Command, responded quickly and assisted in transporting the victims.
As investigators work to determine what led to the crash, loved ones are mourning the loss of Harry Washington and praying for the child’s recovery.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
