DELMAR, New York — A deep sense of sorrow has settled over the Delmar community following the tragic and sudden death of 19-year-old Mason Ruggaber, whose life was cut short in a devastating motorcycle crash on Monday evening in Glenmont.

Mason’s passing has left family, friends, and loved ones heartbroken, struggling to process the reality of a future that ended far too soon. His death has created a painful silence across the community, where he was known, cared for, and deeply valued by those around him.
The tragedy unfolded on April 27, 2026, at the intersection of Route 9W and Magee Drive in Glenmont, when a collision occurred between a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle. Mason, who was riding northbound on Route 9W, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.
In the moments that followed, the roadway became a place of heartbreak and disbelief, as emergency lights filled the night and responders worked through the wreckage of an incident that changed lives in an instant. For those who witnessed or learned of the crash, the shock has been overwhelming.
Those who knew Mason remember a young man full of life, energy, and potential — someone whose presence brought warmth and familiarity to the people around him. His absence is now felt in every corner of the community, leaving behind grief that is both heavy and difficult to express.
The driver of the SUV, 53-year-old Eric Thompson of Glenmont, was also injured and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision as Bethlehem Police work to determine what factors led to the crash.
As Delmar mourns, Mason Ruggaber is being remembered not for the way he died, but for the life he lived — a life marked by youth, promise, and moments that will now be held tightly in memory by all who loved him.
