HAUGHTON, La. — The Haughton community is mourning the tragic loss of Preston Workman, 43, who was killed in a motorcycle crash early Monday morning on Sligo Road.

Louisiana State Police Troopers from Troop G responded to the scene near Mayflower Road around 1 a.m. Preliminary reports indicate that Workman was riding a 2025 Harley-Davidson eastbound when his motorcycle crossed the centerline, struck an uneven section of the shoulder, and overturned. Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, he suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger, also wearing a helmet, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment. Authorities have not yet determined if impairment played a role, and toxicology tests have been taken as the investigation continues.
