The Bartlett, Illinois community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Mike Basich, a beloved teacher and longtime member of School District U-46 whose death has left an immeasurable void in the lives of students, colleagues, friends, and family.

Mike Basich dedicated nearly three decades of his life to education and to the students of District U-46. Over his 28-year career, he became widely respected not only for his knowledge and professionalism, but also for the compassion and encouragement he showed to everyone around him. He most recently served as an AP Humanities teacher at Bartlett High School, where he inspired countless students through his passion for literature, writing, and learning.

A graduate of Elgin High School, Mike returned to the same district that shaped him as a young student. Before teaching at Bartlett High School, he attended Wayne Elementary and Canton Middle School, experiences that helped form the educator he would later become.
