Academy, Shane combined deep technical knowledge with an unmatched passion for developing talent. His academic background in sport psychology from UNC Charlotte only sharpened his ability to connect with athletes on a mental and emotional level.
Trying to box him into “coach” feels almost lazy. Shane was the kind of person who didn’t just teach skills; he built people. Athletes credit him for instilling grit, discipline, and belief in themselves, often long before they had any of it. Whether it was in a gym, online, or through a random piece of advice, he had a habit of showing up exactly when people needed guidance. Friends describe him as endlessly curious, someone who could master anything he focused on and somehow still make time to pour into others.
