The Ville Platte community is mourning after Javion Semien, 15, was fatally shot Monday afternoon in a tragic act of violence that has left family, friends, and classmates heartbroken.

According to the Ville Platte Police Department, the shooting occurred along Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. Javion was reportedly on his way to football practice when gunfire erupted, turning an ordinary day into an unimaginable loss.

Authorities confirmed that a 17-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the case. The Ville Platte Police Department, working alongside the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
