DALLAS COUNTY, Ala. — A woman from Uniontown has died following a tragic single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Dallas County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

State Troopers say the crash happened shortly before 4:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 80, approximately eight miles west of Selma. The crash occurred under circumstances that remain under investigation.

According to preliminary findings, a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Kimeia A. Bennett was traveling along U.S. 80 when it left the roadway for reasons that have not yet been determined. The vehicle then struck a guardrail before overturning multiple times, coming to rest off the roadway.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Despite efforts to render aid, Bennett was pronounced deceased at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.

Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported. The roadway was temporarily impacted as crews worked to clear debris and secure the area for investigation.

At this time, investigators have not released details regarding what may have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Factors such as speed, road conditions, and possible driver impairment have not been confirmed and remain part of the ongoing investigation.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is leading the investigation and will continue to gather evidence, review the crash scene, and determine the events that led up to the fatal wreck.
