A 22-year-old woman is dead and a 35-year-old Lexington woman is facing murder charges after a violent incident early Friday morning in a Gaston-area home, according to authorities.

Lexington County deputies say they responded around 3:20 a.m. to a residence on Marshall Road after reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found Gabrielle Marie Cribb lying in a hallway with another person attempting to help her by applying pressure to her wounds.
Cribb, of Lexington, had suffered multiple stab wounds. She was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition and taken into surgery, but later died from her injuries.
Investigators say the suspect, identified as Constance Michelle Lever, entered the home hours after an earlier dispute, grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen counter, and stabbed Cribb. Witness statements also allege previous threats had been made toward people inside the home.
Police say Cribb and others had gone to a bar earlier in the night before an argument led them to leave. The situation later escalated into the fatal attack inside the home.
Lever was arrested Friday and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center around 11:30 a.m. She has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and has been denied bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
