The Wasilla community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 21-year-old Dominic Murray, who was fatally shot during a tragic incident on Monday, April 27, 2026, at a residence on Holiday Drive.

According to the Wasilla Police Department, MATCOM Public Safety Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 11:17 p.m. reporting a male had been shot inside the home. Officers from the Wasilla Police Department and Alaska State Troopers responded and located Murray suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper chest.
Emergency crews and Mat-Su Borough EMS immediately provided life-saving measures at the scene. Murray was airlifted to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities reported that a 17-year-old male suspect was detained at the scene and later arrested in connection with the incident.
