The Jacksonville, Florida, community is mourning the tragic loss of 21-year-old Kaila Jefferson, who was fatally shot inside an apartment on Collins Road on April 24, 2026.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to an apartment complex on Collins Road near Retreat Boulevard after reports of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they located Jefferson inside an apartment suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Investigators with the JSO Homicide Unit quickly launched an investigation. During the initial stages, 19-year-old Isaiah Micaleb Robinson, who was detained at the scene, was identified as a suspect. After reviewing evidence and conducting interviews, detectives arrested Robinson and charged him with manslaughter. He is currently being held at the Duval County Jail.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the events leading up to the shooting, and the circumstances inside the apartment remain under investigation.
