HAVERHILL, N.H. — Authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a Springfield, Massachusetts man who was found deceased inside an apartment early Monday morning in Haverhill.

Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Haverhill Police Chief David Appleby said officers responded to multiple 911 calls around 1:07 a.m. on April 20, 2026, directing them to an apartment on Nelson Street. When police entered the residence, they discovered the body of an adult male inside.
The victim was identified as Demetrius White (DOB: 12/29/2003) of Springfield, Massachusetts. An autopsy is being conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death.
Officials also announced that Jayden McClanahan (DOB: 02/03/2005) of Hartford, Connecticut, was arrested late Monday evening. McClanahan is facing burglary charges connected to the investigation and the address where White was found. Authorities said he is being held on preventative detention and is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. in Haverhill.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding White’s death, saying more information will be provided as it becomes available while protecting the integrity of the case.
