The Birmingham community is mourning the tragic loss of 25-year-old Brionn Arronjaae Orr, who was fatally shot Tuesday night in the city’s Kingston neighborhood.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the shooting occurred at approximately 11:42 p.m. at an apartment in the 4600 block of Roscoe Avenue, located within the Rev. Dr. Morrell Todd Homes. Orr was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:31 a.m. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates confirmed the death and identified Orr as the victim.
South Precinct officers were dispatched to the scene after the city’s Shot Spotter gunfire detection system alerted authorities to the incident. Police learned that Orr had been taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. A suspect has been detained and is being held in the Birmingham City Jail on a 48-hour hold while the investigation continues.
This marks the second homicide on this block in just over a month. On March 5, 23-year-old Cornelius Lee Evans was killed in a hail of gunfire near the same location. Two individuals have been charged with capital murder in Evans’ case.
Orr’s death brings Birmingham’s homicide count to 12 for the year. Jefferson County as a whole has recorded 19 homicides, with 12 occurring in the city of Birmingham.
