A’yanna Wilbanks, Louisville Obituary Death: 19-Year-Old Killed After Vehicle Crashes Into Building in Smoketown Area

The Louisville community is mourning the tragic loss of 19-year-old A’yanna Wilbanks, who died following a devastating single-vehicle crash on May 14, 2026, in the 700 block of Logan Street near the Smoketown neighborhood.

According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, the crash occurred around 4:53 p.m. when a vehicle carrying three occupants left the roadway and struck a building. Emergency responders arrived to a serious scene, where Wilbanks was found with fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed her cause of death as blunt force trauma resulting from the crash.

Two additional occupants were also inside the vehicle at the time of the collision and were transported to UofL Hospital for treatment. Authorities said their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Family and friends are now left devastated by the sudden and heartbreaking loss of A’yanna, a young life taken far too soon. Loved ones are remembering her with deep sorrow, holding onto cherished memories as they struggle to process the tragedy.

As the investigation continues, officials have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Police have not confirmed the driver’s identity and are still examining whether factors such as speed, distraction, impairment, or mechanical issues played a role.
